The reproduction of the bindings shown above is found in a 2011 auction catalog of Gros & Delettrez - Société de ventes aux enchères Paris (click here to see it). This amazing set of 32 dentelle bindings by Louis Chenu has to be one of the most wonderful masterpieces made in the 18th century. Triple rare, because Chenu binding are very rare, and signed Chenu bindings even more rare and set of 32 bindings decorated with a dentelle again something rare. This set sold for 95.000 euros even though no one had any idea of what they might sell for at the beginning of the auction. The resolution of the photograph of this set although quite good by internet auction standards is not sufficient enough to allow us to extract imprints, however we can see that there are within these dentelles a few imprints that we have not yet recorded. I am hoping to receive some higher resolution images soon. |

Even experts are sometimes wrong, before you spend thousands on a book, please do your own research! Just because I say a certain binding can be attributed to le Maitre isn't any kind of guarantee, don't take my word for it, go a step further and get your own proof. In these pages I have provided you with a way of doing just that. |
