The binding shown above covers a 1524 Book of Hours presently held by the Library of Congress, and can be viewed on line (click here to see it). We have been examining this binding closely on the previous page, now we are going to have an indepth look at the decoration. In Comparative Diagram 1, we see the complete inventory of all the imprints found in the decoration of this binding. You are probably thinking there must be more than just these few, the only thing not counted is the palette or roulette that makes a broken line due to having been severed with very small small cuts, this has been used to outline the spine compartments. This is a very interesting exercise extracting imprints, I discovered that some of the usual tools are missing, and one has been replaced with a rare tool that I had never catalogued. We do not see any sign of the circular jd-26 or its partner dj-29 nor any other flowers or stars.
