The reproduction of the bindings shown above is from a PIERRE BERGÉ & ASSOCIÉS online auction catalogue Livres de voyage Ethnographie Friday 04 November 2011 14:00 Drouot Richelieu 1-7 - Paris, Lot n° 77 (click here to see it). I found this, by searching with Google for reliure aux armes de Armand-Thomas Hue, marquis de Miromesnil. On the first page of this series of pages we started with another binding with the armes of the marquis de Miromesnil and I was hoping that our binder might have made more bindings for Miromesnil who was the Minister of Justice for Louis XVI. |
Even though the reproduction quality of this binding is not extraordinary we can still see in the Comparative Diagram 1, that the tools used here are the same tools that we have recorded previously. Below in Comparative Diagram 2, I have assembled the bindings that we have collected so far, and arranged them in an approximate chronological order. |

Even experts are sometimes wrong, before you spend thousands on a book, please do your own research! Just because I say a certain binding can be attributed to le Maitre isn't any kind of guarantee, don't take my word for it, go a step further and get your own proof. In these pages I have provided you with a way of doing just that. |
