The reproduction of the binding shown above is found in LIBRAIRIE CAMILLE SOURGET catalogue No. 23, (click here to see it) This catalogue is in a pdf file and the image not at all sharp, however as we already have examples of similar spine decorations by this binder it isn't hard to guess that this is yet another Relieur Royal binding. Below in Comparative Diagram 1, we see that the central fleuron of the spine panels is the same on three bindings, one dating to at least 1777, indicating that this fleuron was probably used over a prolonged period (several years). We do not know when this binding was executed however we might suspect that it was perhaps a few years after the publication date of 1768.
