In Comparative Diagram 1, we see our first Relieur Royal examples, and below the extracted imprints. Both of these bindings are barely useable in terms of imprint extraction however have with the Madame Elisabeth example we do have a base of imprints with which to search for more. The two bindings shown here are very similar they share many of the same decorative tools there is one that is found on C6b18 that is not on the 273 I show it at the bottom of this page, this unique tool may help us to find more bindings as we have a fairly good image of it that can be enlarged. On the next page we are going to look at another binding with these same tools however this time we have at last some good enlargements enabling us to see for the first time details that we were only guess about in our previous extractions. |

Even experts are sometimes wrong, before you spend thousands on a book, please do your own research! Just because I say a certain binding can be attributed to le Maitre isn't any kind of guarantee, don't take my word for it, go a step further and get your own proof. In these pages I have provided you with a way of doing just that. |
