The reproduction shown above is from Heribert Tenscherts 2019 catalogue entitled « à compartiments ». This catalogue is a treasure chest of French 18th century mosaic bindings, however the catalogue information is as I have mentioned faulty. In as much as we have shown conclusively that Davis564, shown below in Comparative Diagram 1, is a binding that was decorated by Pierre-Paul Dubuisson, it is obvious that the binding shown above was also made by the same artist as the decoration is in many ways identical. As concerns the Tenschert information for this binding, we do not need to be conversant in the German language, to know what is going on here, when they mention Mirijam Foot who has not yet recognized the difference between a Derome and a Dubuisson, we can be sure that this information is wrong and misleading.
